How long is a performance
season?
Our season start at the end of
August and goes through mid May.
How many
concerts does the Arizona Winds perform?
We perform about 8 concerts a
season. Our performances take place in both outdoor and indoor
venues.
What kind of music
does the band play?
Most of our concerts tend to be in
the Pops style. We try to balance this with more formal concert
band repertoire for some of our performances. We have performed
such musical styles as marches, swing, musical medleys, classical
transcriptions and standard concert band works.
Where and when do you
rehearse?
We rehearse on Tuesday nights at
Deer Valley High School in north Glendale.
Where do you perform?
We mostly perform throughout the
West Valley. Our home auditorium is at Deer Valley High School.
How large is the group?
The group numbers from 60 to 65
musicians.
How do you
join and do you have to audition?
Although we do not post any
openings, individuals can contact us about participating. We will
then discuss with them about their background and see if we could
use additional players. We will then invite them to a rehearsal and
see how it will work out.
